Mr. Abhishek M (Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, effective February 2026. He holds a Master’s degree in Thermal Power Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at Mahindra University, Hyderabad.

He possesses broad industrial experience spanning core mechanical engineering and the IT sector. Following the completion of his master’s degree, he began his career with an automotive multinational corporation, primarily focusing on research and development. His professional work involved delivering engineering solutions in electric vehicle thermal management systems, radiator re-sizing, hydraulic system calibration, and related areas. His expertise and research interests include Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for solving heat and mass transfer problems, battery thermal management systems, future energy technologies, renewable energy systems, Li-ion battery technology, and AI/ML-assisted technologies for energy optimisation.

His doctoral research focuses on the modelling and thermal management of large-format prismatic Li-ion battery cells under high and low ambient conditions, employing both experimental and numerical approaches based on empirical, semi-empirical, and physics-based methodologies. His research contributions have been published in reputed journals and conferences, including the Journal of Energy Technology, Journal of Energy Storage, and SAE International Conference Proceedings.

Alongside his core research in thermal and energy systems, he is actively developing expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Generative AI, and emerging digital technologies for engineering applications. He has completed several hands-on workshops on Prompt Engineering for Educators, Generative AI, and Machine Learning, strengthening his ability to apply AI-driven approaches in engineering education and research. He has also undertaken relevant courses offered by the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI), further enhancing his knowledge and skills in interdisciplinary, AI-enabled, and future-ready engineering education.
