Dr. P M G B Asdaque
Assistant Professor
Dr. P M G B Asdaque received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Distinction) from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and completed his M.Tech. (Master of Technology) from NIT Rourkela, Odisha, with specialization in Machine Design & Analysis. He was awarded the MHRD Fellowship, Government of India, for pursuing his M.Tech. at NIT Rourkela. He subsequently joined the Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Delhi, as a Research Project Assistant and was awarded his PhD from IIT Delhi for doctoral research in the domain of Solid Mechanics. He was awarded the SRF from CSIR-India and the competitive Research Excellence Travel Award from IRD-IIT Delhi.
His research interests include solid mechanics, computational methods, dielectric elastomers, AFM, structural analysis, smart materials (piezoelectric), energy harvesting, soft robotics, dynamics, and geometrically exact beam analysis. He has presented his research at reputed national and international conferences, including conferences in Rome (Italy) and Nanjing (China), and has published research works in reputed journals. He has guided several B Tech, M Tech and M Tech (Research) students.
In addition to his research expertise, he has completed several NPTEL courses related to AI/ML, Deep Learning, Data Science, and Python Programming, strengthening his interdisciplinary capabilities in Artificial Intelligence and computational methods. Recently he was awarded a “Topper” certificate for holding Rank 1 in one of the NPTEL course. He has actively contributed to curriculum innovation and the complete overhaul of the Mechanical Engineering syllabus to make it fully AI-oriented. He played a key role in integrating AI and emerging digital technologies across core Mechanical Engineering subjects and aligning the curriculum with NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) courses, thereby supporting industry-relevant, interdisciplinary, and future-ready learning outcomes for students.
He has also been actively working with BETA Systems (now Cadence) for ANSA training of students, helping students develop industry-relevant skills in CAE pre-processing and simulation. He was recently awarded the ITS-SERB Award by the Department of Science & Technology.
