Dr. Ashoka S
Associate Professor
Dr. Ashoka S is an experienced academician and researcher with more than 20 years of expertise in the development of advanced functional nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications. He is currently serving as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry, with extensive experience in research leadership, project execution, Ph.D. supervision, and interdisciplinary teaching.
He has served as an Associate Professor at REVA University in Bengaluru from September 2022 to September 2026. Prior to that, he held a position at Dayananda Sagar University in Bengaluru from 2015 to 2022. His research experience includes a role as a Visiting Scientist with Professor C. N. R. Rao at JNCASR in Bengaluru. Additionally, he has completed postdoctoral research at several institutions, including the University of Quebec in Canada (where he received an international postdoctoral merit scholarship), Warsaw University of Technology in Poland, and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Bangalore University (2011) and M.Sc. in Chemistry from Bangalore University (2004). His research interests include nanostructured functional materials; electrochemical energy storage (lithium-ion, sodium-ion, zinc-ion batteries, and supercapacitors), electrochemical energy conversion (hydrogen production through HER, OER, and beyond-water-splitting reactions), electrochemical sensors, and wastewater treatment technologies.
Dr. Ashoka has published over 115 research articles indexed in reputable international journals, with more than 3,900 citations on Google Scholar, an h-index of 34, and an i10-index of 78. Additionally, he has successfully guided four Ph.D. scholars.
He has published research in several prominent journals, including ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, ACS Energy & Fuels, ACS Inorganic Chemistry, RSC Advances, Nanoscale Advances (RSC), RSC Sustainable Energy & Fuels, Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Power Sources, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Ceramic International, and ChemCatChem, among others.
He has also contributed eight chapters to books published by international publishers, including Wiley, the Royal Society of Chemistry, IOP Science, and Elsevier.
He has successfully secured four major funded research projects supported by DST, SERB, ANRF, and VGST. These projects cover electrochemical sensors, sodium-ion battery materials, and photothermal supercapacitor applications.
