Assistant Professor
Champa M S is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Robotics, School of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru, and is pursuing her Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Automation for Precision Agriculture at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). She holds an M.Tech in Software Engineering and has a strong academic and professional background in software engineering, artificial intelligence, and emerging intelligent technologies.
Before transitioning into academia, she gained 5 years of industry experience, including 4 years as a Test Engineer, where she worked extensively on OTT applications and platforms, and 1 year as an intern at Philips. Her industry experience provided her with practical exposure to software quality assurance, functional testing, regression testing, API testing, GUI testing, and application testing across multiple platforms.
Her research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Automation, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, IoT, and Precision Agriculture. Her doctoral research focuses on applying Artificial Intelligence and intelligent automation techniques to precision agriculture, with an emphasis on developing intelligent and data-driven solutions for agricultural applications. Her interests include integrating AI, deep learning, IoT, and multisensor data to address real-world challenges in agriculture and support intelligent decision-making.
Her teaching interests include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Database Management Systems, Software Engineering, Object-Oriented Programming, Java, and Software Testing. She is actively involved in academic activities such as curriculum development, laboratory instruction, student mentoring, project-based learning, and the integration of industry-oriented technologies into teaching and learning.
Her technical expertise includes Python, Java, SQL, MySQL, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and software testing. She has hands-on experience with tools and technologies such as JIRA, GitHub, Postman, Charles Proxy, Selenium, and MySQL Workbench, along with practical experience in testing applications across Android, iOS, Android TV, Smart TV, and Set-Top Box platforms.
Her professional background combines industry experience in software testing with academic expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering, enabling her to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications. Her work focuses on developing and exploring AI-driven intelligent automation solutions for real-world engineering and agricultural applications, with a particular emphasis on sustainable and precision agriculture.
