Dr. Dinabandhu Patra

Dr. Dinabandhu Patra is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry whose research is focused on the design and development of advanced functional materials for sustainable energy and environmental applications. His research expertise encompasses nanostructured materials, heterogeneous catalysis, halide perovskites, hydrogen energy, direct air capture and carbon sequestration, and environmental remediation. His work integrates materials chemistry, catalysis, and nanotechnology to develop high-performance materials and scalable technologies for clean energy conversion and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Patra received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, where he investigated metal–metal oxide interface engineering for enhanced heterogeneous catalysis. Following his doctoral studies, he worked as a Senior Research Associate at the CSIR–Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), Hyderabad, before pursuing postdoctoral research at the University of Cincinnati, USA. These experiences enabled him to contribute to multidisciplinary research in catalysis, carbon capture, and optoelectronic materials.
His research has resulted in several publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. His current research focuses on developing nanostructured catalysts for efficient green hydrogen generation, two-dimensional halide perovskites for next-generation optoelectronic devices, and nanostructured materials for CO2 capture and sequestration. His goal is to develop scalable, cost-effective, and sustainable materials that address energy and environmental challenges.
