Associate Professor
Dr. Devi Priya V. S. is an accomplished academician, researcher, and cybersecurity professional with over 15 years of experience in teaching, research, curriculum development, and academic administration. She holds a B.Tech. in Information Technology from the University of Kerala and an M.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University (2010), where she graduated as a University Rank Holder. She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security) from VIT-AP University, specializing in cybersecurity and hardware-assisted authentication systems.
Her research interests include Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, Hardware Security, Cloud and Container Security, Web Authentication (FIDO2/WebAuthn), Artificial Intelligence for Cybersecurity, Security Operations Center (SOC) Automation, Honeypots, Supply Chain Security, and IoT Security. She has made significant contributions to cybersecurity research through high-impact publications, patents, funded research projects, and the development of innovative security frameworks.
Dr. Devi Priya serves as the Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) for the MeitY-supported project titled "SAILA: FIDO-enabled Smartphone-based Passwordless Authentication System to Protect HID Injection," funded through the Centre for Hardware Security Entrepreneurship Research and Development (C-HERD), an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, led by the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) in partnership with IIT Kharagpur and IIT Madras. The project focuses on developing indigenous passwordless authentication mechanisms to strengthen endpoint and hardware security.
She co-designed and developed an indigenous honeypot deployment testbed and led the creation of a publicly available honeypot dataset, which has been released through Kaggle to support cybersecurity research and machine learning-based threat detection. She has also contributed to multiple patents in the domains of hardware security, authentication systems, and cyber defense technologies.
Dr. Devi possesses extensive hands-on expertise in cybersecurity technologies, including SIEM, Splunk, ELK Stack, OpenVAS, Nessus, Wireshark, Metasploit, Burp Suite, Snort, Wazuh, Nmap, Docker, and cloud security platforms. Her work encompasses vulnerability assessment and penetration testing (VAPT), log management, threat intelligence, digital forensics, malware analysis, incident response, security analytics, and secure software engineering.
An active researcher, she has authored numerous papers in leading national and international journals and conferences. Her publications have appeared in prestigious venues, including Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio), Computers & Security, Journal of Network and Computer Applications, Communications of the ACM, and other SCI/Scopus-indexed journals and reputed international conferences. Her research has received recognition for addressing contemporary cybersecurity challenges through AI-driven and hardware-assisted solutions.
Dr. Devi is a certified cybersecurity educator and professional. She holds the IBM Cybersecurity Practitioner Instructor Certificate awarded by the IBM Skills Academy and has earned professional certifications in cloud computing and AI technologies, including AWS Cloud Security and NVIDIA GenAI-LLM Associate certifications. She actively contributes as a reviewer for reputed international journals published by Springer, Elsevier, and other leading publishers. She is a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and continues to contribute to the advancement of cybersecurity education through research, innovation, consultancy, funded projects, and international collaborations.
