Dr. Dipen Biswakarma
Assistant Professor
Dr Dipen Biswakarma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru. He obtained his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, under the supervision of Prof. Santanu Bhattacharya, and subsequently held the prestigious DS Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship at IISc under Prof. Aninda J. Bhattacharyya. He has also served as a Research Associate at IISc and JNCASR, accumulating over 10 years of research experience in supramolecular chemistry, functional materials, molecular self-assembly, electrochemistry, and organic energy-storage materials.
His research focuses on the rational design of stimuli-responsive supramolecular materials, hydrogels, metallogel, fluorescent probes, optical sensors, and organic electrode materials for rechargeable batteries. His work integrates molecular synthesis, photophysical characterization, self-assembly, and materials engineering to develop advanced sensing platforms and sustainable energy-storage systems. He is proficient in a broad range of analytical and characterisation techniques, including UV–Vis, fluorescence spectroscopy, rheology, electrochemical analysis, and computational molecular modelling.
Dr Biswakarma has authored 22+ peer-reviewed publications, including 12+ first-author papers, in leading international journals such as Chemical Science, Langmuir, Small, Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (PCCP), ChemCatChem, Chemistry – An Asian Journal, Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, Chemistry Communications, and ACS Agricultural Science & Technology. His research has also resulted in five Indian and international patents related to supramolecular hydrogels and rapid sensing technologies. His academic achievements include the CSIR–UGC NET Fellowship (AIR 77), DS Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship, GATE qualification, and the Best Poster Award at an international conference. He has presented his research at several national and international conferences across India, Japan, Hungary, and the USA.
