Dr. Pradeep Kumar Badiya

Associate Professor

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Badiya is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry, School of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru. He is an interdisciplinary researcher whose academic journey brings together chemistry, nanotechnology, materials science and device engineering. His research interests include nanomaterials synthesis and characterization, fluorescence, plasmonics, surface plasmon-coupled emission (SPCE), semiconductor-device fabrication, NEMS, surface chemistry, bioprocessing, clinical research, diagnostic device development and chemical sensors. His teaching interests include Engineering Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, and Materials Chemistry.

Dr. Badiya has developed a diverse research career through academic and research positions in India and Japan. He served as a Research Associate at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning before joining the School of Materials Science, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), Japan, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. His current academic profile records 23 research publications, 3 patents and 1 book chapter also serving as investigator in VGST funded project. An important dimension of his research is the translation of scientific discoveries into intellectual property and practical technologies. His patent portfolio includes a novel coumarin-oxadiazole azo dye for enhanced latent fingerprint detection, a combined SARS-CoV-2 protein-based rapid antigen detection technology, and a SARS-CoV-2 rapid antibody detection assay. These contributions reflect his interest in developing research outcomes with practical relevance to forensic science and healthcare. He has been associated with the SAKURA Science Exchange Program since 2015. His research has also been presented at national and international scientific conferences in India and Japan. Dr. Badiya aims to develop sustainable, affordable and high-performance materials and sensing technologies by integrating chemistry, nanotechnology, materials science, semiconductor technology and data-driven approaches.
