Dr. Saravana Bavan. D
Associate Professor
Dr. Saravana Bavan is an accomplished academic, researcher, and professional with more than 20 years of experience spanning industry, teaching, research, and academic activities. He obtained his Ph.D. in Natural Fibre Composites from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, under a research fellowship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. He holds a Master’s degree in CAD/CAM from Anna University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU)
His research career has resulted in more than 74 publications in reputed international journals, along with 20 research papers in international conference proceedings. He has actively participated in and presented his research at more than 30 international and national conferences in India and abroad, including academic and research institutions such as Cal Poly University, USA; Imperial College London, UK; Universiti Teknologi Malaysia; and Kumamoto University, Japan.
He has contributed 15 book chapters to reputed international publications, including works associated with CRC Press, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, and Pan Stanford Publishers, and has authored three textbooks. His research contributions have been recognized through 10 Best Paper Awards at national and international conferences. He has also received Young Researcher Awards and recognitions from IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials, and Mahatma Gandhi University. He was nominated for Who’s Who in the World – 2012 and has served as a reviewer for several reputed international journals.
He has also attended more than 20 international workshops, training programmes, and summer schools and has contributed to the organization of seminars, workshops, conferences, and other academic activities. His overall research profile reflects a strong commitment to sustainable materials, advanced manufacturing and emerging AI-driven technologies, with significant potential for interdisciplinary research and industrial applications.
