Dr. Shashwath Patil

Assistant Professor

Dr. Shashwath Patil is an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering with a Ph.D. from Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), Chennai. He holds an M.E. in Manufacturing Technology from NITTTR, Chandigarh, and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from PDA College of Engineering, Kalaburagi. His research interests include Additive Manufacturing, advanced polymer composites, sustainable materials, biomedical 3D printing, advanced manufacturing, and AI-enabled engineering. His doctoral research focused on bio-derived reinforced polymer composites for additive manufacturing, integrating statistical optimization and machine learning to enhance the performance of 3D-printed materials.

His research and teaching activities integrate Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and emerging digital technologies into Mechanical Engineering education and research. He has contributed to incorporating AI-driven concepts across core Mechanical Engineering courses and aligning relevant curriculum components with NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) offerings, promoting interdisciplinary and industry-oriented learning. His research applies AI/ML for data-driven modelling, prediction, optimization, and analysis of materials and manufacturing processes. He has also participated in FDPs focused on AI and emerging technologies in engineering education and research.

He has published research articles in SCI/SCIE- and Scopus-indexed journals, along with book chapters and review articles, and holds published Indian utility patents in sustainable additive manufacturing, bio-based composites, and advanced manufacturing technologies. He has presented his work at national and international conferences and has been recognized by NPTEL as an “NPTEL Believer” and “NPTEL Enthusiast.” His current focus is on developing sustainable, intelligent, and industry-relevant manufacturing solutions through interdisciplinary research.
