Ms. Vaishali Verma

Assistant Professor

Vaishali Verma is an academician, researcher, and software professional with expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, blockchain, and full-stack software development. She is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), Bangalore.

In her current role at DSU, she is actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and laboratory instructor to provide hands-on practical training to students, and mentoring students in research-oriented and industry-relevant projects. Her teaching and research focus on Python programming, Data Structures, Machine Learning, and applied AI systems, with an emphasis on practical implementation and innovation.

Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor at Lovely Professional University (LPU), where she taught core computer science subjects and Python Programming and guided students in academic projects and applied research. During her tenure at LPU, she contributed to curriculum development and supervised student projects with a strong focus on AI-driven applications.

She has completed her M. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, and holds a B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering. Her academic background reflects a strong foundation in both theoretical and applied aspects of computer science.

Her research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Medical Image Analysis, Cybersecurity, Explainable AI, and Intelligent Software Systems. She has authored multiple IEEE conference publications in reputed international conferences addressing healthcare AI, explainable deep learning models, and intelligent decision-support systems.

She has contributed a book chapter titled “Large AI Models in Cybersecurity: Opportunities, Risks, and Future Directions” (2025), which explores the applications, risks, and future research challenges of large-scale AI models in cybersecurity.

In addition, she has two accepted patents, developed in collaboration with B.Tech final-year students:

• Real-Time Public Transport Tracking System for Small Cities, aimed at enhancing urban mobility and accessibility.
• PrepMate – Online Coding Collaboration Platform, designed to support collaborative coding, learning, and technical interview preparation.

Before entering academia, she worked as an Associate Software Engineer at BYJU’S (Think & Learn Pvt. Ltd.), gaining industry experience in backend development, cloud-based batch processing, event-driven systems, and scalable web applications. She also completed professional training at ICT Academy, IIT Kanpur, strengthening her expertise in Java and object-oriented programming.

She actively engages in student mentoring, interdisciplinary research, and applied AI innovation, bridging academic research with real-world problem solving.
