Professor and Chairperson

Department of Physics

Welcome to the Department of Physics, School of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar University

Greetings from the Department of Physics, School of Engineering

The Department of Physics is guided by the vision of our founding father, the late Sri R. Dayananda Sagar, who believed that education and knowledge are powerful tools for empowering individuals to address scientific, technological, and societal challenges.

We are committed to excellence in education through experiential learning, interdisciplinary engagement, and research-led teaching. Our Engineering Physics curriculum provides a strong foundation in fundamental physics while preparing students for emerging technological domains, including quantum computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, semiconductor devices, advanced materials, mechanical engineering, and aerospace applications. Students are trained to analyse complex problems through fundamental scientific principles—an ability essential for research, industry, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Physics Department offers modern undergraduate laboratories and advanced research facilities supported by ANRF, ISRO, ICMR, UGC, SERB, ARDB–DRDO, AIC–DSU Innovation Foundation, and Dassault Systèmes Foundation. The key research areas include semiconductor devices, smart sensors, quantum materials, spintronics, radiation and medical physics, nanophotonics, thin films, thermoelectric materials, plasma physics, nonlinear dynamics, complex networks, and electromagnetic-interference shielding. Our faculty members are actively engaged in research on sustainable nanomaterials for energy storage, conversion, and generation technologies, including batteries, supercapacitors, photovoltaic cells, and electrolyzers.

We strive to foster an inclusive, innovative, and intellectually stimulating environment that enables students to learn, explore, collaborate, and develop solutions for real-world challenges.

I wish all our students a rewarding learning journey marked by innovation, achievement, and pride for Dayananda Sagar University.

BEST WISHES !
