The Department of Mathematics, takes pride in serving our students with high quality courses in Applicable Mathematics for the various engineering and computer applications programs.

Overview:

We are deeply committed to excellence in mathematics teaching and learning while embracing the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence. As part of an AI-First University, the Department of Mathematics is committed to integrating mathematical thinking, computational methods, data-driven approaches, and Artificial Intelligence across teaching, research, and interdisciplinary applications.

Our faculty members possess expertise across diverse areas of Mathematics, including Applied and Computational Mathematics, Probability and Statistics, Optimization and Operations Research, Mathematical Modelling, Graph Theory, Complex Analysis, Fluid Mechanics, along with interdisciplinary mathematical applications in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. The department aims to develop a strong mathematical foundation that enables students to understand, design, and apply AI-driven technologies responsibly and effectively.

The department follows an AI-enabled active and experiential learning paradigm, empowering students to move beyond conventional learning and become independent thinkers, problem solvers, innovators, and lifelong learners. AI tools, computational platforms, programming, mathematical modelling, and data-driven techniques are integrated into courses wherever appropriate, enabling students to connect mathematical theory with real-world problems.

Our curriculum is designed to enhance students’ mathematical competencies, computational skills, and research capabilities by integrating modern tools such as MATLAB, Python, R Programming, and AI-based platforms. The department promotes interdisciplinary research at the interface of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, with applications in areas such as engineering, healthcare, finance, supply chain management, sustainability, scientific computing, imaging, and other emerging domains. We encourage collaborations with reputed academic institutions, research organizations, industries, and technology partners to address contemporary challenges through mathematical and AI-based approaches.

As the university progresses towards becoming an AI-First University, the Department of Mathematics aspires to serve as a strong academic and research foundation for AI-driven education and innovation. Our long-term goal is to develop a Centre of Excellence in AI-Enabled Applied Mathematics that contributes to cutting-edge research, interdisciplinary innovation, industry collaboration, and societal development.

Vision:
