Career as a Company Secretary – Awareness Session

The School of Commerce and Management Studies – UG, Dayananda Sagar University, in association with the ICSI Bengaluru Chapter, organised an awareness session on “Career as a Company Secretary” on 11 August 2026 for BBA and B.Com students.

The session aimed to familiarise students with the Company Secretary (CS) profession, its scope, career opportunities, and growing significance in the corporate sector. The resource persons from the ICSI Bengaluru Chapter provided insights into the CS course structure, eligibility requirements, examination process, career pathways, and professional opportunities.

The session highlighted the important role of Company Secretaries in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, corporate law, risk management, board processes, and ethical business practices. Students gained an understanding of how Company Secretaries contribute to transparency, accountability, effective governance, and compliance within organisations.

The interactive session also provided students with an opportunity to clarify their queries regarding the CS course, examinations, career progression, and professional opportunities. The speakers shared practical insights and professional experiences, helping students understand the skills and competencies required to succeed in the profession.

The session encouraged students to explore Company Secretaryship as a promising career pathway and provided them with greater clarity about the diverse opportunities available in the corporate and regulatory domains.

Orientation 2026 - Welcoming the New Cohort to SCMS The School of Commerce and Management Studies (BBA & B.Com)

Dayananda Sagar University, hosted the Orientation Programme 2026 on 6th August 2026, welcoming the new cohort of students to the University. The programme was organised to introduce students to the academic environment, opportunities, and vibrant campus life at SCMS. It provided students with an opportunity to interact with distinguished industry leaders and gain valuable insights into their academic and professional journey ahead. The programme was graced by Dr. Umesh Rudrapatna, Founder of Gridflow, who shared his professional journey and valuable insights with the students. His interaction highlighted the importance of perseverance, continuous learning, innovation, and embracing opportunities while building a successful career. The students were also addressed by Mr. Ravindra M. K., Entrepreneur and Founder Member of BHIVE Workspace, who shared valuable perspectives on entrepreneurship, innovation, and the evolving business landscape. His insights encouraged students to explore entrepreneurial thinking and develop the confidence to identify and pursue new opportunities. The sessions offered students a valuable blend of academic orientation and industry perspectives, inspiring them to look beyond the classroom and develop the skills, confidence, and mindset required to thrive in a dynamic business environment. The Orientation Programme - 2026 marked an exciting beginning for the new students of BBA and B.Com, setting the foundation for a meaningful, enriching, and successful university experience.

B.Com ACCA Student Wins Best Paper Award at International Student Conference

Proud Moment for Dayananda Sagar University

Dayananda Sagar University is proud to announce that Ms. Prajna S. Kantharaj, a 5th Semester B.Com ACCA student from the School of Commerce and Management Studies, has won the Best Paper Award at the International Student Conference on AI in Commerce, Sustainability and Green Finance, held on 3rd August 2026 and organised by Surana Educational Institutions, Bengaluru.

Ms. Prajna S. Kantharaj received this prestigious recognition for her outstanding contribution to the conference, reflecting her commitment to academic excellence, research, and emerging areas at the intersection of artificial intelligence, commerce, sustainability, and green finance.
