My time in the CSE - Data Science Department at DSU really shaped how I think about AI and data. The faculty didn't just stick to theory, they pushed us to work with real datasets, build models, and actually get our hands dirty, and that's where most of the real learning happened. The department also gave us a good number of workshops and technical events on AI and cloud, along with the push to take part in hackathons like NASA Space Apps, which opened up more opportunities than I expected. There's a line by Grace Hopper that stuck with me over the years, "the most dangerous phrase is we've always done it this way," and that pretty much sums up the mindset this department gave us. There were late nights before deadlines and plenty of debugging headaches, but all that eventually turned into the confidence I now carry into building AI systems at my job.
