Career Mapping and Mentorship Program – Alumni Interaction - 30 May 2026

The School of Commerce and Management Studies (SCMS), Dayananda Sagar University, through its Student Advisory & Career Services Cell, successfully organized a Career Mapping and Mentorship Program for MBA students on 30 May 2026 at the Innovation Campus, Kudlu Gate, Bengaluru.

The session featured distinguished alumni Ms. Sheetal Inani, Client Support Analyst, StoneX Group Inc., and Ms. Ashwini S, TMS Specialist, StoneX Group Inc., who interacted with MBA students and shared valuable insights from their professional journeys. The program was coordinated by Dr. Pavithra Salanke, Associate Professor, and Prof. Jayashree N, Assistant Professor, SCMS-PG.

The interaction focused on helping students understand StoneX Group Inc’s expectations, career planning strategies, workplace readiness, professional competencies. The alumni shared practical experiences on transitioning from academia to corporate life, building professional networks, enhancing employability skills, and navigating career growth pathways. Students actively participated in the discussion, engaging with the speakers on topics such as career progression, industry trends, skill development, professional certifications, and workplace adaptability. The session served as an excellent platform for bridging the gap between academic learning and company requirements.

The School of Commerce and Management Studies at Dayananda Sagar University successfully organized the Alumni Talk on MBA Specialization to help students gain clarity regarding the various specialization options available in an MBA program on May 20, 2026. As per Dean-SCMS Capt. (Prof.) A. Nagraj Subbarao, PhD, the session mainly focused on providing practical insights into domains such as Finance, Marketing, Human Resource, Supply Chain Management, AI, Entrepreneurship, and Business Analytics.

The session was coordinated by Dr. Silky Sharma and was enriched by the presence of Mr. Shashank M, CGI India, HRBP- Volvo (client) as the guest speaker for MBA Batch 2025-2027 2nd Semester students brings valuable insights of the real-world relevance and scope of different specializations in today’s competitive business environment.

During the session, alumni of MBA Batch 2022-2024, Mr. Shashank M shared their academic experiences, career journeys, industries expectations, and the opportunities associated with each specialization. They also explained the skills required in different fields and highlighted the challenges and growth prospects available in the corporate world.

The School of Commerce and Management Studies (SCMS), Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru marked a significant milestone by organizing its Annual Alumni Meet on March 28th, 2026 under the banner of MBA Alumni Chapter. Organized under the visionary leadership and guidance of Prof. Capt. A. Nagaraj Subbarao, PhD, Dean-SCMS, the event was conceived to foster a profound and enduring connection with students long after their academic programs concluded. The school operates on the steadfast belief that its role in an individual’s life extends far beyond graduation, and it commits itself to the continuous growth and nourishment of its former students as they navigate their professional journeys.

The event witnessed a vibrant homecoming of graduates who have since established themselves in prominent roles at global industry leaders, including Buhler, Accenture, EY, Razorpay, and Fidelity. Their presence served as a testament to the school's excellence and the diverse professional landscapes its alumni now command. Esteemed Alumni of Dayananda Sagar University, Dr KN Amarnath shared his enriching experience and journey with other alumni and faculties present. MBA Batch 2023-2025 alumni, Ms Sanjana G Kottur, Tax Analyst at E&Y recalled her memories and shared her mantras of success in getting her dreams converted in reality through her efforts and institutional support.

During a heartfelt address to the gathering, the school's Dean reiterated that alumni are the institution's most significant stakeholders, emphasizing that their value to the school only deepens after they graduate. By creating this platform for synergy, SCMS has solidified a lifelong partnership with its alumni, ensuring they remain integral to the school's evolving legacy.

Alumni meet was was graced by international faculty, Dr Davd Morris (Senior Research Fellow, Guest Professor Foreign Studies University, Beijing, China) and inhouse faculties including Prof. Dr Sai Ganesh, Prof. VV Rajan (Deputy Director - Industry Relations Centre for Executive Excellence), Assistant Director – Mr Raghavendra Rao and many more.

Alumni participated wholeheartedly and they gave a number of useful suggestions and commitments to be available for more opportunities to interact, share their knowledge from industry and contribute to the university vision and help their juniors in making successful careers ahead through by guiding them. The School of Commerce and Management Studies at Dayananda Sagar University successfully organized an insightful industry expert session on “Transportation, Inventory, and Warehouse Management” for MBA Supply Chain Management students on December 17, 2025.

The session was coordinated by Prof. Muralidhara G. V. and was enriched by the presence of Ms. Sumaiya Kauser as the guest speaker. Ms. Sumaiya Kauser, an alumna of Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru, brings valuable professional experience in logistics and inventory management.

During the session, Ms. Sumaiya Kauser, Senior logistics and fulfillment executive at Shobitam Inc. shared her extensive industry and academic insights, offering an in-depth understanding of end-to-end logistics operations, inventory management practices, and quality control measures. The discussion highlighted the practical significance of effective transportation, inventory, and warehouse management in real-world business scenarios. The event Offered hands-on exposure through a classroom demonstration of the logistics process, explained each step of logistics in detail for better understanding. It showed how logistics functions within an organization, including planning, coordination, and movement of goods. It simplified complex concepts by linking them to practical, real-world scenarios and encouraged interactive learning by engaging students during the demonstration.

The primary beneficiaries of the event were the MBA students, especially those specializing in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The session provided them with practical exposure to real-world logistics operations, helping bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry practices. These relationships provide practical advice on navigating the MBA journey and career transitions, help students secure internships and jobs, and give a deeper understanding of the "insider experience" that isn't available online.

The discussion was moderated by Mr. P.N. Jairam, renowned Management Consultant, who guided the engaging conversation among panelists and students. The alumni panel featured Ms. Utpreksha Giri, Assistant System Analyst at TCS, and Ms. Nisarga R, Project Management Consultant at KPMG Global Services. Both alumni shared their professional journeys, emphasizing workplace adaptability, networking strategies, and the importance of continuous learning in shaping successful careers.

The School of Commerce and Management Studies (SCMS), Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru organized a two-day expert session titled “Gen AI and Emerging Trends” on 12th and 13th June 2025 taken by Industry Expert and SCMS (PG) Alumni Mr Sunil Kumar G R. Hosted under the banner of the Center for Proficiency Enhancement (COPE) – Digital Transformation and Alumni Relations, this event aimed to expose students to cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, the session promoted awareness, skills, and knowledge vital for navigating the digital transformation in business and society.

This session focused on current and future trends in Artificial Intelligence, highlighting the transformative role of Generative AI in business, creativity, and productivity. The session began with a conceptual overview of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, setting the foundation for understanding how algorithms learn, adapt, and influence decision-making in real-time applications.

The session deep-dived into Generative AI solutions, particularly using Azure OpenAI services such as DALL·E, which demonstrated AI’s capability to generate visual content from textual prompts. The session also introduced Microsoft Copilot, an AI assistant embedded across Microsoft 365 apps, showcasing how generative tools can boost productivity and enhance business communication.

As per Dean- SCMS, Capt. A. Nagaraj Subbarao, PhD, participants were also introduced to the concept of prompt engineering—an emerging skill crucial for effectively interacting with generative AI systems. The session was interactive, hands-on, and aligned with industry expectations, helping students and faculty understand not just the tools but the strategy and ethics behind their implementation.

This session organized by Prof. Mohan Srinivasan and Dr Silky Sharma reflected SCMS’s commitment to fostering a future-oriented learning environment by integrating real-world technologies and global trends into the academic experience.
